Help Me Represent South Africa at the World Powerlifting Championships

My name is Kobie Mellet, and I am a Grade 12 learner at Die Hoërskool Brandwag in Uitenhage, South Africa.

I have been given the incredible opportunity to represent South Africa at the SJ/J World Powerlifting Championships in Sun City. This is a dream I have worked tirelessly towards through years of dedication, sacrifice and hard training.

Unfortunately, all athletes are responsible for covering their own expenses. These costs include the R3,100 entry fee, flights, accommodation, car hire and other travel expenses. We are doing everything we can to keep the costs as low as possible, but because my matric final trial examinations begin the day after my competition, flying is our only practical option.

My education is just as important to me as my sport. I am currently ranked 2nd in my grade at school, and I am determined to maintain this standard while also representing my country on the international stage. Flying is therefore the only way for me to return in time for my examinations.Read More
