Meet Thabo. For many years I drove past him, giving him some change where I could, but I always wondered what his story was. So, one day I got out of my car and asked him.
When Thabo was 30 years old he was a healthy, happy man, working hard and earning a living. One day he was involved in a terrible train collision and the accident altered his life forever.
Thabo woke up 3 days later in hospital with no legs and only one hand. He was to be wheelchair bound for the remainder of his life. He cried for days. Then he realized he had a choice, to be strong in the mind or to give up.
But how does this man cope with his life? Living a life of poverty in a country that barely offers any support, how many people could do this? Yet he does, every single day. Thabo is the type of man you tell your children about to educate them on what true strength is. A story of daily triumph, overcoming immense pain and physical struggle without any family support or money.
