ZIMBABWE BLUE CROSS 2026

In August 2026, around 50 intrepid nutters will be taking part in the Blue Cross Ultra Distance Event across Zimbabwe — a legendary journey stretching roughly 500 km from the country’s lowest point to its highest.

Some will take part in teams. Others will tackle it solo. Some will be riding (bicycles, enduros  - we’re still holding out hope for a unicyclist), some will be running, and most will be walking.

One of the oldest participants this year is a mere 78 years old!

There will be dust, blisters, bucket showers, cold nights, aching knees and probably more anti-inflammatory tablets than any of us would like to admit.

But this walk is not really about us.

It’s about animals without a voice.

In Zimbabwe, animal welfare organisations, like the SPCA (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), work tirelessly to rescue abused, neglected and starving animals, almost always with extremely limited resources. But their work goes far beyond rescue alone.
