Zoë's Journey with Kira: A Tale of Friendship and Resilience

Meet Zoë, a vibrant, creative and gifted 14-year-old girl with a heart full of compassion and a mind brimming with knowledge. Diagnosed with autism and ADD at a young age, Zoë’s world is a unique tapestry of brilliance and challenges. She is a keen reader, and a budding author. Zoë's deep interest in Greek mythology, her encyclopaedic knowledge of the How To Train Your Dragon Franchise and the animal kingdom, are just a glimpse into her incredible intellect. Her dream is to study zoology and immerse herself in the world of nature conservation.

Despite her academic success, autism makes it difficult for Zoë to form friendships, understand social cues, navigate sudden changes in routine, ‘read’ facial expression or body language, understand jokes or sarcasm, and cope with demanding situations.  As with countless other girls on the Autism Spectrum, Zoë often grapples with sensory overwhelm, low self-esteem, depression, and severe anxiety.
