48 Hours Below

Personal message

Hi, my name is JP Campher and I'm an avid diver who's passionate about our oceans and the amazing coastline we as divers have to explore here in Cape Town and South Africa; thanks to the rich and diverse diving that is available.

At the same time, I'm also very aware of the impact human behavior is having on our oceans, particularly due to pollution.

It's with these two reasons in mind that I've decided to apply to the Guinness World Records to break their Longest Open Water Scuba Dive record (Cold Water) - yes, as an enthusiastic scuba diver a part of me is strangely excited by this challenge of remaining 5m under water for 48 hours but what I'm really hoping to achieve with this attempt is create more awareness about "why" and "how" we can take better care of our oceans and environment. It also wouldn't hurt to further promote Cape Town and South Africa for it's amazing diving activities...

Donations will be distributed to various NGO's for education about sustainable fishing, oceanic health and to combat poaching. All funds to be collected by 11th of August when my 48-hour dive ends. The institutions that the funds will go to are:

NSRI, SASSI, Sea Shepard, Ocean Warriors

BackaBuddy will administer funds raised to the above non-profits.
