African Exodus - Mozambique Mission

Personal message

My name is Mark Mpinganjira (20), and I reside in Hatfield. I'm an active member of African Exodus. I am responsible for raising funds for the December Mission, where we will be refurbishing an existing media centre as well as providing relief for those affected by Cyclone Idai.

African Exodus (AE), is a missionary group that encourages and trains students and young professionals to be missionary volunteers, serving both God and humanity. AE seeks to provide humanitarian aid, coupled with spreading the Gospel, to less reached African countries by encouraging both students and young professionals to use their skills and talents for the benefit of the widowed, orphaned, diseased and impoverished. All those who participate in the AE missionary group do so on a voluntary basis, and each contributes financially to the specified project for the given year.

AE is currently preparing for the next project which is set to take place in Maputo, Mozambique, over the period 2 - 17 December, 2019. The aim of this project is to provide relief for those who were affected by Cyclone Idai, as many have lost their homes and many basic belongings such as food, clothing and toiletries. Additionally, there are plans to refurbish an existing Media Centre.

This fundraising campaign has been started in order to raise funds for the mission group’s Mozambique project, as the volunteers’ contribution is usually only enough to cover their food and transportation for the mission trip. In order for the mission to be successful, there is a pressing need for building materials such as cement, floor tiles, paint and other materials of a similar nature to be obtained. They will be used for the refurbishing of the Media Centre. There is also a need for donations that will go towards the Food Drive that the mission group also hopes to establish.

In order for the project to be carried out successfully, it is greatly preffered that the required amount be raised by the 1st of November, 2019. This will give the group's executive team sufficient time to prepare well enough in advance.

Donations will be used for:

Sand - R3263.40
Cement (42) - R3302.56
Cement adhesive - R1048.95
Floor Tiles - R10489.51
Sound Tapping plates - R25000
Washable paint - R4055.94
Windows of aluminium - R4195.80
Doors made of aluminium - R1468.53
Food donation drive (vegetable garden) - R10 000

Donations will enable volunteers to make a meaningful impact in Mozambique as the funds will be used to renovate an SDA Media house as well as plant a vegetable garden to help those affected by Cyclone Idai.

*Funds raised will go directly to African Exodus church account*
