Alex and Matt Climb Kili for Smile

Personal message

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to visit this page. We are Alex and Matt – two third year medical students at Wits University.
Every second year, the Wits Students’ Surgical Society organises for a group of students from Wits to challenge themselves to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in order to raise funds for The Smile Foundation. Two preceding challenges have taken place, bringing in almost a million rand for this incredible non-profit organisation.
The Smile Foundation provides expert surgical intervention and makes a life-changing difference in the lives of children with facial anomalies in South Africa, and across the planet. As medical students, we are incredibly proud and supportive of the work done by this charity.

This year, we are incredibly excited to be part of the prospective team that will take part in the 2018 Kilimanjaro challenge. More exciting still, the two of us have successfully managed to secure a sponsorship of R100 000 for Smile from a pharmaceutical corporate in SA.

However, climbing the mountain is an incredibly expensive feat and in order to partake in the challenge, we are both still in need of personal climbing funds.
We’d absolutely love for you to join us on this adventure by contributing any amount on this page. Donations of any size will make a difference and are greatly appreciated!
