Amy Ackerman is  a talented South African national badminton player, has been a  member of the South African Senior squad since 2020 since the age of 14. Road to Paris Programme

Amy and her women's doubles partner have been included in the Badminton Confederation Africa's(BCA) "Road to Paris"(R2P) programme. This programme has identified Africa's most promising badminton players who show potential to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. Their inclusion in the program is following their success at the African Championships held in February 2022, where they achieved a silver medal and are the current All Africa champions in 2023.

The objective of the R2P programme is to facilitate the attendance of these players at several African, Pan- American and other international tournaments to boost there world ranking with Badminton World Federation(BWF). To qualify for the Olympics players need to be ranked number 1 in their discipline(singles, doubles and mixed doubles) in Africa and be among the top 50 in the world.

Funding Requirement

The R2P programme includes co-funding by BCA, however the funding is limited and a significant portion of the costs must be covered by Badminton South Africa(BSA), or by the players themselves.
Currently BSA is unfunded, unsponsored and awaits support from the National Lottery Fund or other sponsors. For these reasons BSA is unable to provide any financial assistance to any of the South African players chosen for R2P.
In pursuit of her Olympic dreams, Amy is faced with little option but to self-fund the shortfall of R150,000 which will help her compete in the identified tournaments for 2023

Amy is currently seeking financial support and sponsorship towards these costs, Should you ,your company or anyone in your network be able to assist in this regard, please donate to this campaign
