As archers, such as myself, we have to pay all the travel expenses in full. We do not get help from our Archery Association (AAN) for that matter. Thus I’m in need of funding to further my archery career and better my chance at winning without the tiring stress of financial needs. As I’m still a student without an income, it’s difficult to cover all the expenses on my own with the little help of friends and family.
I have been competing internationally since 2013. I have gone to the following events: the Youth World Championship in Wuxi, China (2013), the African Championship in Luxor, Egypt (2014), the Youth World Championship in Rosario, Argentina (2017), and the Hyundai World Championship in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands (2019). My aim is to attend more international events in the coming years to perfect my talent/skill and give my utmost best performance (and enjoy the learning experience of course) so that I can become the professional archer that I know I can be.
The cost for me as an athlete to compete at the above mentioned competitions and events is R50 000.00 (this amount covers all baggage handling fees, accommodation, entry fees for the tournaments, airfare, transport, etc. I am looking to participate at more World Archery events in the near future (next year and the years thereafter). It’s quite a big thing to be invited to participate at these world class events. But for that to happen I have to pay all the expenses by myself and in full. It’s a great experience to participate at these events and for someone as young as me it is a huge honor and great privilege to do so.
The funding will take off a large amount of stress which will leave me to reach my peak performance. Knowing that you’re financially sorted puts the mind and body at ease, and that’s what’s important for the best possible performance.
