I hope this message finds you well. My name is Ryan, and I find myself grappling with a challenging situation. A recent diagnosis revealed an advanced and rare form of cancer known as Multiple Myeloma, affecting my blood and bones. Despite the odds, I've been facing this battle with unwavering faith and determination, and recent medical procedures have shown some positive results.
However, the road ahead remains difficult, and I am reaching out for assistance as I need to explore additional treatments and clinical trials in England, unavailable in South Africa. It's a situation I never anticipated, and the humbling reality of needing help is both powerful and, at times, humiliating.
Friends and colleagues in the tourism industry have generously rallied to raise funds for me, leaving me with mixed emotions – relief, gratitude, and an undeserving sense of grace, coupled with a touch of guilt. In the past, I was the one contributing to fundraising campaigns, and today, I find myself on the receiving end.
As a father and a professional in the travel industry for over 30 years, it's not easy for me to ask for help. I've always been self-reliant, but circumstances have placed me in a position of need. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the travel industry, coupled with my health challenges, has made finding work a struggle.
In September 2022, I collapsed and was hospitalized, leading to my cancer diagnosis. Despite the challenges, I choose to view this situation positively – an opportunity to live and appreciate life more fully. The cancer has significantly affected my mobility, necessitating the use of a wheelchair, and the associated pain makes even simple tasks challenging.
Currently, I receive a monthly disability grant of R2080, but it comes with its own set of challenges, including processing delays. My wife, the sole breadwinner, struggles to cover our basic living expenses. I am reaching out with an uncertain heart for financial assistance as bills continue to accumulate, and I yearn for a better life for my family.
This is an extremely uncertain time for me, and my doctor has advised against taking on too much stress. I have plans to travel to England for further treatments, hoping to extend my life and eventually reunite with my family there. The journey won't be easy, and I'll be undergoing various cancer trials while in England.
While I can't estimate the exact amount needed in the coming months, my doctor suggests that by January/February/March 2024, I may be able to travel. My dream is to take my family with me, but presently, the financial burden is overwhelming. I am reaching out, blind to the outcome, seeking assistance from anyone in a position to help us.
Your support, regardless of its size, will make a significant difference in our lives. In advance, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your time, consideration, and for reading a message from someone navigating life in this upside-down world.

Please help Ryan and family Campaign
I'm Ryan, facing a daunting battle against Multiple Myeloma. Despite positive strides, I must seek treatments in England unavailable in South Africa. Pride humbles me to ask for assistance, a stark contrast to my past contributions to fundraising campaigns. As a devoted father and a 30-year veteran in the travel industry, unexpected health challenges collided with the industry's COVID-19 downturn.
Now in a wheelchair and grappling with financial strain, I seek help for medical expenses and a chance at life. My family faces uncertainties as bills accumulate. Monthly disability grants and my wife's salary fall short. I plan to travel to England for treatments, hoping for a brighter future with my family. Any financial support, no matter the size, would be life-changing. Your generosity will aid in our journey toward recovery and reunification.
With sincere gratitude for your time and potential contributions, Ryan Charles and Family.
