Brendan van Staaden is an avid Road and Mountain Bike Cyclist and adventurer. Having raced the 2016 ABSA Cape Epic and achieving 11th in the Grand Masters category, he is no stranger to suffering on a bicycle.
He is also no stranger to suffering life on life's terms, having endured tragic loss of loved ones, of business and other unforeseen life circumstances. Brendan is currently recovering a livelihood taken from him 2015 and is dedicating his efforts in 2018 to those who’ve endured this type of loss and are trying to win their own way back to being productive members of society.
In 2018 Brendan will cycle over 12 500 kilometers and knock out some tough MTB challenges such as "The Munga", the "Transbaviaans" and a few other extreme MTB events.
Brendan suffered a shattered collarbone in December 2017, which ruled out a 2018 EPIC for him, but undeterred he is recovering daily and is only 48km off the pace on his 12 500Km target gearing up for The Cape Town Cycle Tour in March.
Please back Brendan to back The Recovery Foundation as he cycles to help others who’ve lost more than their hopes and dreams. Thank you.
