Hi, my name is Chante Holloway and I come from Cape Town South Africa.
Currently, I am working with an orphanage, teaching girls to be fighters both mentally and physically. Most of these young girls have been taken advantage of and come from areas affected by gang violence. We make use of boxing as a way of building confidence again while obtaining the skill of defending yourself, but we're in need of boxing gloves.
The inspiration to work with these girls came from growing up in a community run by gang violence and substance abuse. I have lost friends and loved ones because of it. This is my way of trying to stop the cycle of generational poverty.
I travel to Mitchells Plein every Saturday and plan on spending the rest of my Saturdays in 2019 with these girls.
Boxing gloves are expensive, but I found gloves appropriate for kids at Mr.Price sport for R350 a pair.
I work with +/- 15 girls but we can share the gloves by taking turns
R350 x 7 = R2450
Your donation will play a part in creating future leaders and strong women, that can be pillars of these types of communities and empower their youth, creating a positive change in our communities that are overwhelmed with gang violence. There are honestly good people in these towns that don't want to live in fear and don't deserve to.
