Cheresse is a sister of mine, not by blood, but by heart. We are very close friends, more like family.
Cheresse Gerber 27 years old, eldest daughter Marilyn and Mike Tainton. Doting wife to Chris and mother to Taylor-Shae 4 years and Nickolas 8 months, whose life instantaneously changed after being for a routine check-up. Doctors noticed an abnormal growth between the pelvis floor and bladder. On the 3rd December 2018 after relevant examinations, blood tests and scans were performed the questionable truth of Cervical Cancer as well, as a cancerous tumour became a harsh reality.
The sad truth is that this tumour was left unnoticed during her pregnancy with her son, who is now only 8 months old. Needless to say Cheresse, could not understand the pain and discomfort felt during her pregnancy. The advantage of her pregnancy was that it kept the tumour dormant until after giving birth, then it was like wild fire.
On the 10th January 2019 all was positively confirmed, Stage 2 Cervical Cancer and a cancerous growth between the pelvic floor and bladder.
The required treatment is as follows:
10 day planning, which tells doctors how much radiation and chemo Cheresse's body can handle at a time.
Thereafter, 6 weeks of chemo and radiation is to follow.
Insisting of 25 days radiation, 5 days chemo and 3 days of radiation seeds implanted into the cervix.
Like many other young people, Cheresse was not expecting to get cancer and, this at such a young age.
Cheresse needs R100 000 deposit before she can even start her treatment.
Cheresse needs our help, kind hearts, lots of prayer's, love and support!
Since her last follow up examination on the 10th January 2019, Cheresse's condition has deteriorated rapidly. The tumour is pushing against her bladder and bowel making it almost impossible to urinate or pass stools,if this does not improve she will have to make use of a catheter. This has caused tremendous strain on her kidneys, having her experience crippling pain to the extent of having to rely on using a wheelchair to get around as the pain numbs her legs enabling her to walk.
We her family have created this page for Cheresse with the hope to help raise funds for her to start her required treatment.
Any donations big or small will be welcomed with opened arms and will be greatly appreciated.
*Funds raised will be transferred directly to the relevant medical practitioner*
