We had a fun day at the dam when Chloe and her brother were playing. She fell into the dam, hit her knee on a rock, and got injured. We rushed her to Linmed Hospital in Benoni, but since it happened on a Sunday, they couldn't treat her immediately. The doctor in the casualty department did his best with the available resources. However, by Tuesday, her leg's colour didn't seem right to me, and her leg was warm to the touch. I took her back to the hospital, and they informed me that she needed to be admitted, which would cost R60,000 for 3 days, and we didn't have medical aid.
They tried to assist us with government hospitals, but there were no available beds for Chloe. So, we took her to our family doctor who is helping us now. Chloe requires daily visits to the doctor for a drip and wound observations. We had to use our rent money to cover the medical bills so far, and I have a total of 5 children, including 3 of my own and 2 of my late brother's since April. Their mom can't afford to care for them financially.
The doctor informed me that Chloe faces a long road to recovery, with a minimum of 3 weeks just for wound care. Afterwards, we'll need to assess whether the wound is healing on its own or if she needs surgery and a skin graft. My fiancé and I are self-employed, so it's challenging, especially since I have to be with Chloe 24/7 as her leg can't bend, and she requires assistance with everything. Our finances are becoming a problem due to the daily medical care she needs at the doctor's office to manage the infection and prevent potential amputation.
Any help, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
