CIJ 2020 - Enabling the Miracle of Christmas Giving to Happen Twice a Year! This year on the 25 July

Let us make the Miracle Happen for the CIJ 2020 Beneficiaries

Last year together we raised an incredible R265 000 for our charities. We were all set to do the same if not better this year in July 2020 but Covid-19 had other ideas. Life has been turned upside down here and everywhere. Now, even more so than in the past 19 years, our beneficiaries need us. So, even with everything turning upside down, let's try and turn it right side up South African style. Let's  do this together...online...Christmas In July rewrite 2020!

Here are the details of our deserving charities that will benefit from your generosity to CIJ 2020?

CIJ Enabling Fund - is used to assist people when life knocks them down and they need a helping hand.  The needs are many and vary from education of orphaned children; families with HIV; assisting disadvantaged schools in local communities; Rosebank Homeless Association; educating children of the Mabvuku community in Zimbabwe; SPCA; Growing Champions; Rhino Orphanage at Sibuya; Joburg Anglican Bishop's discretionary fund (assists all irrespective of religious affiliation - education, health, tragedy etc); Lotsha & Ukuphula Iketanga (Breaking the Chains) prison ministry, St Paul’s Munsieville and Friends of the Ballet. These are just a few of the many who need upliftment.

Compassionate Friends - a mutual self-help organisation offering friendship and understanding to bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents. The objective is to help people in their community including family, friends, employers, co-workers and professionals to be supportive and to provide information and education. They offer a safe environment with one on one personal sharing sessions as well as continuous support groups meeting every month in Soweto, Lenasia and at TCF Centre focusing on different aspects of the death of a child. www.compassionatefriends.org.za

Drought Relief Northern Cape Strydenburg District - SA is experiencing its worst drought in 114 years which has had a huge impact on our farmers. The Strydenburg district consists of about 35 farms that have been in families for generations. It is no longer a case of not being able to farm but now it has become a daily mental battle for the farmers and their families. The worst is that sound in the morning of hungry animals; that “baa” that travels everywhere.  When you go into the veld even the wild springbok come as close as 5m to the bakkie looking for feed. Help is desperately needed in many forms in this declared disaster area. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NHfYN57Q-0

Family Worship Medical Care Centre (FWC) - provides care for the terminally ill living with HIV/AIDS, helping them to live and die with dignity as well as offering health care services and shelter to HIV/Aids infected people in Hursthill, Joburg.  This area is rife with drug and alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancies etc. They also embrace all frail care conditions, step downs and hospice care. www.fwchospice.org.za

4 Pawsis a registered non-profit organisation, established in 2006 whose mission is to improve the quality of life for underprivileged animals by providing shelter, feeding, healthcare, veterinary treatments etc. CIJ created the full time job opportunity for their dog walker, which we would love to continue to enable.  www.4ourpaws.org.za

Headway - started in 1995, is a registered welfare organisation dedicated to offering various support programmes to adult survivors of brain injury (BI) and their families.  Most injured members have sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) as a result of a motor vehicle accident, sporting accident or assault.  They also assist survivors of acquired brain injuries such as strokes.  www.headwaygauteng.co.za

KCC (Kingdom Consultant Centre) - a registered NPO focussing on the basic educational needs of children coming from impoverished areas of Rabie Ridge, Ivory Park and Tembisa. There are currently over 250 children registered on our database. Of these approximately 80-120 attend the regular weekly Saturday School. These children range from ages 2 to 18. We endeavour to teach the children both academics and life skills.  0849890009 or [email protected]

St Martins-in-the-Veld - has several social outreach programmes and activities e.g. soup kitchen, orphaned and vulnerable children feeding scheme, primary health care clinic for those who can’t afford to see a doctor etc. www.stmartins.co.za

Vuleka Primary School - opened in 1989 as a church based educational project working out of schools on church premises, starting with 59 children from previously disadvantaged communities. They now educate over 1000 children from grade 000 to matric, offering quality education that is affordable and easily accessible in a safe and secure environment. Donor funding is needed to keep school fees as low as possible www.vulekaschool.co.za

Christmas in July

Christmas in July Logo

Christmas in July enables the miracle of Christmas giving to happen twice a year in Johannesburg, South Africa. We need your help to support our charities especially in 2020. We assist people and causes who need a helping hand to make our country a better place. This will be our 20th annual miracle celebration.

The needs are many and varied and our charities range from education, homeless associations, medical services, HIV & Aids, Hospice, Grieving parents, Prison Ministries, Drought Relief, Domestic Animals, Rhino Orphanage, etc. This is our 20th year and we are going to need to do things differently in 2020.
