Help me fund my Crohn's treatment

Help me fund my Crohn's treatment

Personal message

My name is Claudia Sham. I am 20 years old and I am currently studying at the University of Cape Town.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease about 4/5 years ago. Since then it has just been a whirlwind of doctors visits, treatments, hospital trips, and procedures.

My doctor has finally decided to put me on the medication Infliximab, which can cost upwards of R30 000 per intravenous infusion. This treatment requires one infusion about every eight weeks and so can get very expensive. Luckily, after months of negotiating medical aid is finally agreeing to pay.

However, my parents are struggling financially at the moment and we are struggling to pay the medical aid fees as we had to move to a more extensive package. I would really like to help my parents. I am currently unmedicated and becoming iller and this is affecting my studies.

So we need help paying my medical aid bills in order to fund the treatment of my Crohn's disease. There is no set time frame. I have, however, been unmedicated for a few months now and am experiencing a lot of discomfort. I really want to graduate at the end of this year and need help in order to do that.

These funds will be used to pay off the medical aid bills and the doctor's fees in order to receive treatment.

These donations will help me immensely. not only will they help to relieve some discomfort by helping me get the treatment I need, but also to reduce the stress that is placed on my parents financially.

*Funds raised will be administered directly to the relevant healthcare providers by BackaBuddy*
