Cole Johnson Medical Cause

Personal message

Cole is 15 years old. He was born 8 weeks premature and with a lot of complications and has numerous medical issues.

He was diagnosed as Autistic when he was 4 years old. The medication that he is on for this is quite extensive and he is also ADHD so he is on NU Con and Risperdol to help him sleep otherwise he does not sleep at all.  He has oesophageal dysmotilty and has had numerous surgeries to correct this that have not been successful. At least 3 times a week while he is eating, the food gets stuck in his oesophagus and he needs to bring it up as it won't go down. He has had it happen quite a few times where he has to go into surgery to have it removed under anesthetic. He has a Medical Condition called CVID (Common Variable Immune Deficiency) which basically means that his immune system does not work. He has to go into hospital every 4 weeks to have a blood infusion to put the white blood cells back into his body to fight off any infections that he may pick up. Even with this treatment he is often at the doctor and sometimes admitted during the month with infections.  He is epileptic and is on medication for that too. Due to the stress of hospitals and being poked and prodded all the time he is also being treated for anxiety. He was diagnosed late last year with rheumatoid Arthritis and chronic inflammation which means that he needs medication for these too. I don’t know how this little body takes all the medication, but unfortunately we have no other choice.  Due to the CVID he is often sick as so misses out on a lot of school, this is why he is now being home schooled at a centre in Benoni where (after 4 different schools) he now seems to have found what works and they are very understanding and helpful.    Our medical aid costs R6747.00 per month.  Thankfully they pay for the infusion every month (Polygam) which at the moment costs about R13000.00 per month. Our chemist account is about R4500.00 per month and that is over and above what the medical aid pays.

The funds will be used to cover our high chemist account for the long list of medication that Cole needs each month.

With all that being said Cole is a happy positive child with dreams that reach the sky, he deals with every single thing in such a positive light that you would never ever say he was as sick as he is.  He is the wind beneath my wings and he teaches us something new everyday.

*Funds raised will go directly to Cole's account at the chemist*

Cole Johnson Medical Cause

Cole Johnson Medical Cause Logo

Cole Johnson (14) has a number of medical problems and we where wondering if anyone could help with raising money for his medical expenses.  We are on a very good medical aid but where we seem to fall short every month is on his medication bills. The smallest donation would be so greatly appreciated.
