Updated - Bambelela Extended Covid-19 Emergency Funding

Personal message

So, when we started this Journey with Covid19 in our country back in March 2020 who would have thought or guessed that like many other places in this World, our country would come to an economically halt and stand-still.

Our initial fears have been realized as South Africa has now been on Lockdown for close to 5 Months. Lockdown meant Travel ban internationally and locally too. No family/friends’ visits permitted and no travel for leisure. These past months we had absolutely no income but all the usual expenses to keep Bambelela running. Electricity, communication expenses, insurance and most importantly feeding the animals in our care and the brave care takers who stayed on the farm although we could also no longer pay their monthly stipends. We are struggling to Feed the Monkeys and Pay for Fuel for rescues and keeping up with the instalment payments for our two vehicles etc the expenses to run the farm just keep escalating. We need every bodies help so that Bambelela can survive this Virus and Poverty.

So far, we could prevent the SHUTDOWN due to Corona-Lockdown ONLY because of the generous supporters from all over the world who donated small and bigger amounts, many of our monkey friends donating repeatedly. We’d like to become sustainable again and one way to help us with this is to sign up as a Guardian Angel, commit on a monthly support of 250 – 350 Rand [20 – 30USD] which will support one monkey of the over 350 monkeys in our care. This will mean a total lifeline for Bambelela. If we could ONLY find 200 Guardian Angels, the feedings would be financially secured. We would be VERVET happy to welcome you in our Bambelela-Guardian Angel-Family and will thank you with a Certificate and regular updates on the progress of your chosen monkey.

Please Help us Feed the Monkeys – Help us to Prevent our SHUTDOWN due to Corona-Lockdown please.

Since South Africa has been placed in Lockdown due to the Corona Virus it has brought major implications for Bambelela. Under normal circumstances, we have foreign paid volunteers assisting us, guest staying in our chalets and tours running daily to raise funds.

But with the Global Emergency of Corona Virus, we as Bambelela have been hit harder than ever if we don't raise funds continuously to cover our monthly running costs from between 55.000 Rand and 75.000 Rand [+/- 5000 USD]  we fear Bambelela will not survive. We need your help every dollar, rand, Euro can help. If we all help a little bit, then we can survive these difficult times. Please find it in your heart to assist us in this campaign. We need you now more than ever

Silke von Eynern, the founder and major benefactor of the facility, originally immigrated to South Africa from Germany in 1990, with her late husband. After his death in 1997 she decided to dedicate her life and savings towards the care and conservation of South African Wildlife and so Bambelela (which means “to hold on” in Zulu) came into being in December 2003.
