Day Apart Dance Goes To Hong Kong

Personal message

Day Apart Dance is a Contemporary based dance company initiative looking to create opportunities and employment for female artists but not exclusively. We are a small company co-owned by myself Natasha Rhoda and Sasha Fourie Myburgh.  Day Apart Dance has worked for many community projects, charities and children programmes.

We have also created opportunities for professional dance artists, all done in our own capacity with immense struggle due to lack of resources and no funding. We are so proud to announce that we have been invited to be a part of the Hong Kong International Choreography Festival.

It includes a 5-week artist in residency programme and performances of our own work. With an opportunity like this, we will broaden our artistic knowledge base and come back home and share with other artists and upcoming trainees. This artistic exchange will also allow for networking and connections for the South African dance community, which will not necessarily be our organisation but it paves the pathway for others from South Africa.

The breakdown of cost is as follows:   1. Flights: approximately R10 000 each to Hong Kong. 2. Accommodation R7 000 each for the full 5 weeks. 3. It is a 5 week residency and performance programme which does not include food and transport costs within Hong Kong. We came to an additional amount of R46 000.

If you are in a position to help financially, it would be greatly appreciated. Any financial assistance whether big or small will help us get closer to our goal.
