Help a business get through Corona lockdown

Help a business get through Corona lockdown

Personal message

My name is Melanie. I am raising funds to help a dear friend, Debbie Fendick to pay salaries to her staff who run her retail stores - The Little Field Mouse Market (LFMM). She is a 41 year old Johannesburg mom who built this business from the ground up to help empower other small businesses, by giving them a retail footprint to sell their goods. She has a heart of gold and always puts everyone else before herself.

This is Debbie's story:

Due to the lockdown LFMM and the small businesses that sell their goods within our stores are not making any money due to no sales as the stores are all closed. And this is unlikely to change until we reach Level 2 or 3, which could be months away.

This means that we have no income to pay our staff. Our staff are the core of our business and like family to us.

We want nothing more than to pay our precious staff to help get them through this tough time - before lockdown they were all hard-working moms (one who is 8 months pregnant). Now they find themselves in a position where their future is uncertain, and we feel helpless to help them.

We ensured that we paid all our staff at the end of March and provided them with food parcels, but without assistance we are not goiong to be able to continue paying them. Our stores sell arts and crafts, none of which would be considered essential and are likely to remain closed until we get to level 3 or 4 - this means we could be closed for months to come.

We know that times are tough for everyone. But any amount that you are able to donate will help these ladies by giving them and income now and ensuring the business stays open so that they have a job to go back to. Each of them provides critical income to their families.

Ivy Sibanda - Ivy is the Head Manageress at our beloved Randridge Mall Store. She has a 5 year old son.

Mokgadi Noko is our Flamingo Centre Manageress and she has a 2 year old and a 12 year old son.

Eulanda Makgooka is our Bryanston Manageress and she has a little girl of 3 years old.

Priscilla Kana is our Dullstroom Manageress and she has 3 little children that rely on her.

Selby Molaba is one of the manageresses at our Clarens store and she has two daughters in school.

Thandi Maduna is the otherClarens Manageress and she has a son.

Millicent Makabane is our Cradlestone Manageress and she is about to go on maternity leave to have her first child.

Adolphina Molepo is also a manageress at our Cradlestone store and she has 3 small children.

These ladies are the lifeblood of our business and they don't deserve to be in this situation. We are appealing for your help to save our staff until we can get our stores open and operating again.

Any and all funds received will be used to pay the ladies mentioned above their April salaries.
