Dirco Goes Pro!

Personal message

I am Dirco van der Westhuizen, 20 years old. Professional Athlete competing in Motocross.

When I’m in South Africa I live in Hilton KZN, but for the past 3 years I have been living in a small rural town called Cairo in the State of Georgia, United States of America. I am currently raising funds so that I can successfully compete in the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in America. This is motocross at its Highest Level. I have recently turned Pro after winning the 450B & coming second in the College Boy class at the Mini Olympics of Motocross’s in 2018.

As a kid I dreamed of reaching this level in Motocross, I have successfully dominated South Africa and have worked tirelessly to get to the starting line of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. This Championship runs until the end of August 2019, thereafter I will continue to compete in the 2020 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. So my fundraising campaign is rather open ended to see me through this period.

Where do I start... Food, fuel, entry fees, medical bills, accommodation, motorbike parts, professional coaching etc.. I have a strict budget to adhere to so every penny has to be spent wisely.

As any South African Athlete will tell you, funding from the state is non-existent. As a Privateer (self-funded) in America, the South African Rand does not go far. Any and all donations will ease up the pressure on my family who are making tremendous sacrifices to keep me competitively racing until the time I get picked up by a Big Sponsor.
