Fund a Musician

Personal message

The Johannesburg Youth Orchestra NPC (JYOC) has established itself as a leader in orchestral training. The JYOC’s vision is to contribute to human and social development, which lie at the heart of transformation in South Africa. By giving young people opportunities to learn, create and participate in music-making, the JYOC builds people’s internal capacity to reach their potential. Since 1998 it has grown from one to 12 different ensembles, orchestras and music groups, providing a musical home for over 400 children representing over 50 schools, education institutions and community music groups. The JYOC responds to the needs expressed in under-resourced areas, addressing the lack of music training in historically and financially disadvantaged communities.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we were not able to be operational and could not apply for much-needed funding for the 2020 financial year. This has left the organisation in a challenging financial position.

We are reaching out to our friends, colleagues, families, acquaintances who would be able to donate a minimum of R200 to reach our target.

By reaching our target, we will be able to open our doors from 1 November 2020 again to continue with our instrumental and ensemble training programmes in Soweto, Orange Farm, as well as our Auckland Park campus.

Funds will be used to support all our students and teachers, and all other Programme activities offered by the JYO NPC.

For all donations more than R200, you will be eligible to receive a Section 18A tax certificate.
