Get Ella to India for Stem Cell Treatment

Ella was assessed by Dr Alok Sharma from the NeuroGen Brain and Spine Institute on 25 June 2017 and he is confident that she will benefit hugely from the stem cell treatment they perform in India for cerebral palsy patients.

Ella made her way into the world too soon at only 29 weeks, weighing just 1.2kgs. At 2 weeks she suffered a pleural effusion which basically means her chest cavity filled with fluid and collapsed both of her lungs making it impossible to breath. The doctors had to cut a hole in her chest to drain the fluid to allow her lungs to start inflating again but sadly the 5 hours that passed before they were able to stabilize her caused the lack of oxygen and septicemia which, as a result, caused the white matter in her brain to be damaged. White matter is the tissue through which messages pass between different areas within the central nervous system, allowing your brain to "talk" to your body. It is heartbreaking that this bright, sweet and loving little girl is trapped in a body that doesn't listen to her or respond properly. That is why this treatment is unlike any other - it sends the stem cells directly up the spinal cord to the brain where she needs them to repair the damage.

Ella is 4 years old now and is still in the ideal age category for stem cell treatment, but this needs to happen soon. This could be Ella's chance to reach her fullest potential.
