Get Kyle to the Pokemon World Championships

Personal message

This is my story...

From the young age of 8 I have been involved in a hobby. In which people who know me, would say my life is CONSUMED by it. This hobby is the POKEMON TRADING CARD GAME!

I have been playing on and off for 19 years and have been involved in the competitive scene for roughly 7 years. I have dedicated myself to the game for the last 3 years. The first year was finding my feet again and getting involved in the "Professor Program" where I act as a leader and an ambassador to my local Pokemon community. I helped to grow 2 local Pokemon Leagues in Cape Town and am all for the growth of the community. I dived into the competitive scene last year while still staying involved in being a leader. This year... that changed!

This year I made a commitment to myself that I would qualify for the Pokemon TCG World Championships. I hit the ground running in the competitive scene and started the season as Number 1 in South Africa (According to the world rankings). As the season went on competition became tough but I have not dropped below 5th place in the overall South African rankings. After winning my last Championship Cup I can safely say that I have achieved my goal and have QUALIFIED!!

Reality has begun to set in for me as a South African wanting to travel. The World Championships are always in USA and this year it will be held in Washington DC. Savings look bleak being the sole bread winner in my household and chances are I will not be able to make it to America without some help. I have never been on a plane before and have never left South Africa!! This would be a once in a lifetime experience for me and a lifelong dream come true. The World Championships is a 2 day event starting on the 18th August. The tournament runs over 2 days, those with the highest points from day 1 progress to day 2. NO SOUTH AFRICAN HAS EVER MADE IT TO DAY 2! I personally feel that I can break that streak and not only make it to day 2.... but make South Africa proud and BRING IT HOME!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know we all have our struggles and most people have got better/more important things to spend their money on. Every little bit will help. I am asking for help with the flight, the rest I will be raising and saving myself. The money will be used for airfare, accommodation and a Visa.

In the unfortunate event that I do not make enough funds to make it. I will be hosting a free tournament for the community in Cape Town where I will be spending all funds raise on prizes.

Thank you for hearing my story! Thank you for making my dreams come true!

Thank you so much for your donation! You have played an integral role in helping my lifelong dream come true.

I cannot begin to express my appreciation for you part. God Bless
