Personal message

We are raising funds for Glen Hewitt to travel to the USA, from his native South Africa, on the 10 April 2019 to receive world class medical treatment for his disabling disease.  This is only 2 weeks away.

Glen suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and needs to travel to the USA to be assessed by some of the best MS Doctors in the world in order to better understand treatment plans that could improve his current position/circumstance and that will hopefully help to alleviate his condition. Glen will spend a week undergoing daily tests and treatment with experts in the treatment of MS. Unfortunately this does not come cheaply, especially when your source currency is Rand, so any contribution you are able to make will be greatly appreciated.

The average costs for an international patient visiting Mayo Clinic in Clinic in Rochester, MN USA is $16,000 USD. This estimate is a projection. Final charges depend on the number of services the patient receives.  The estimated length of stay for the evaluation process at the Mayo Clinic is 5-8 business days from the initial appointment. Special treatments and/or hospitalization may extend the length of stay and in some cases may necessitate a  return visit.

The size of your donation does not matter as it all adds up, hopefully to an amount that will be of great benefit to him. We are raising funds for both the medical treatment as well as his travel and accommodation expenses. Please be advised that bank charges will also be levied by your respective financial institution at rates typically ranging from 2,82% to 5,2%. However, ETF's have a R10 flat rate so would, therefore, be the most cost effective.

Please kindly copy Claudia - [email protected] - in with your payment so we have a record of who has contributed for audit purposes etc. Thanks in advance.
