REPAIRING GOGO D'S ROOF

REPAIRING GOGO D'S ROOF

Personal message

The home of Ms Dinah Lekhuleni (75) of Kanyamazane, Mpumalanga Province was severely damaged in a storm in July 2018.  Before repairs to her roof could be completed, representatives of the local authority removed her roof as well as that of several other residents around her as part of a project to replace old asbestos cement roofs in the neighbourhood.

In the process, Gogo D's ceilings, walls and furniture were badly damaged by rain as the contractor concerned had not placed a tarpaulin over her roof.  The project has dragged on for almost a month and although Gogo D now has tiles on her roof, the roof is not insulated, nor were her ceilings replaced or the walls built up to the underside of the roof, leaving this pensioner exposed to the elements.

She does not have the means to repair her house and we are sincerely appealing to you to help us restore her home to its previous condition as neither the municipality or the contractor are accepting responsibility.

Gogo D is extremely important to our family as she is our second mother who helped raise us.
