The Grade 1 Foundation (G1F) aims to provide registered beneficiaries with the opportunity to access basic resources for their 6 or 7 year old child that will be starting Grade 1. These resources include school supplies and school clothes.
The first day of school is filled with excitement and great hope for many children who are beginning Grade 1, as this is their very first experience of school. Our main purpose at G1F is to offer our support and foster a 12-month partnership with parents or guardians to encourage a situation whereby children succeed in attaining the best possible result and setting the highest standard.
G1F will achieve its goal by:
enrolling one child per community, across 12 different communities.
provide school supplies and school clothes to children part of G1F
maintain a feedback system to monitor each G1F-child’s academic progress during that 12-month agreement.

The HewLin Compassion NPO Overview
HewLin Compassion is a Cape Town-based NPO that renders services to the most vulnerable people in extremely impoverished circumstances. Since 2011, we worked within communities to help people live a life away from the streets and away from all socio-ills, which negatively affects our society.
Our vision: Identify a human need and solve it.
Our mission: To put principles into practice by providing education, leadership, and developmental activities, which promote moral excellence, self-confidence, community support, and positive opportunities for at-risk youth.
Our Core Value System drives us – to believe that: 1) Everyone is Accepted, 2) Community – Build relationships, 3) Commitment – Go back for the one, 4) Empowerment - Every dream matters, 5) Excellence – Do everything that is important with excellence.
Our Programs and Projects. The WonByOne Campaign is our Prevention/ Intervention program among people living on the streets. This program runs from June until August of each year.
The Passion Squad skills development program runs from January to June (Phase 1) and continues between August to November with Phase 2. At-risk youth within our community benefits from this.
The Dignity Project supports the households our children come from. This project runs throughout the year.
The Fitness Squad creates a platform whereby young and old are taught how to be physically, mentally, and physically fit. The Compassion Convention invites the most vulnerable children in desperate need of education and skills development, to be part of this weeklong convention.
