Help Mbali See Properly

Personal message

Mbali has been struggling with her eyesight for a few years already. It has affected her school work and she has had to stay back because she can't keep up in class. Her mom, Sindi, is a domestic worker. Every time she took Mbali to have her eyes tested she would have to get new lenses made.

Earlier this year she was referred to a specialist and was diagnosed with "Early progressive keratoconus? with severe astigmatism" She needs to have corneal collagen cross linking and scleral lens fitting. Unfortunately, the cost was too high at the specialist and she was referred to a government institution. She was given a very clear Dr's note from the Dr on what needed to be done.

Each time she went, the clinic would reschedule her for a later date. Finally, she was given a date to come back for the procedure in October - 6 months and 4 appointments later. She arrives for her procedure only to be told that it's silly to do it in October as it's so close to exams and that she should rather come back another time.

Dr Stoler has offered to do the procedure for half the price. We are hoping to have it done at the end of Nov so she has some time to recover and see Dr Stoler for a check-up before his rooms close in December. Please help me to give Mbali a chance at having a bright, clear future.
