Help Nokukhanya make her mom proud

Personal message

I met Nokukhanya Mabaso at AAA School of Advertising where she is studying Copywriting.

She had previously studied Financial Accounting, but had to drop out due to financial difficulties. This setback did not get her down. She decided to turn her love for writing into a career and after applying to various ad agencies and entering numerous competitions, her persistence finally bore fruit when she was awarded a AAA bursary.

Nokukhanya is one of three children, all in the process of starting or completing their tertiary education.

Nokukhanya's mom is a single parent, working as a merchandiser at Shoprite. She never completed her own matric, but takes great pride in the good matric results her three children achieved.

Unfortunately pride does not pay for books. Or transportation. Or the many little things a student like Nokukhanya needs in order to complete her studies.

"My mom has always believed in me, backing me up and hustling for money to cover expenses." Nokukhanya told me.

If you too know the power of a Mother's love, perhaps you could help make things a little easier for the Mabaso family.

We're not talking big bucks. Something as small as covering the daily taxi fare from Soweto to Bryanston will ensure that Nokukhanya never misses class, that she excels at her studies and that she lands a good job - a job that will not only ensure a stable future for herself, but also for her loving mother.

Nokukhanya's main expense is the R52 daily taxi fare from her Grandmother's house in Soweto to AAA School of Advertising in Bryanston.

I will disburse the money to Nokukhanya on a weekly basis, enough to cover the following week's transport costs.
