Become a Hospice Hero – Help Hospice continue our Care

Personal message

The Msunduzi Hospice Association provides home-based palliative care to patients living with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness in most areas within the Msunduzi Municipality and parts of Hilton.

Our services to the communities are free of charge, which means that fundraising plays a vital role in our organisation. One of the ways in which we do this is through various income-generating activities and events throughout the year.
On average, the Msunduzi Hospice Association takes care of approximately 275 patients each month with an average cost of R2400 per patient per month. As a Hospice, we care for the holistic well-being of our patients, and we ask you to journey with us through these difficult times.
The funds raised through this BackaBuddy campaign will ensure that our Quality Hospice and Palliative Care continue and our patients receive the care they need and deserve.
We are calling on individuals, corporates and families to join the Hospice Heroes movement and help us raise the vital funds needed to keep our care free of charge to our patients. No amount is too big or too small.

The Msunduzi Hospice Association in Pietermaritzburg is a non-profit Organization - The mission of our organization is to create a center of excellence which provides and promotes quality of life, dignity in death, and bereavement support for patients and families faced with life-threatening illnesses.

Through a team of professional nurses, caregivers, social workers, and memory workers, Hospice provides physical, spiritual and psychosocial care and support to our patients. Our team also provides support to family members affected and who are trying to come to grips with sickness, death and dying.  Our patients and their families are representative of all ages, races, and genders.

We are always seeking creative ways to raise funds to sustain the care that we provide. Your precious support will be used to mobilize Qualified Nurses who provide free home-based clinical care and support to people (Children, Adults and the Elderly) who have been diagnosed with life-limiting / life-threatening illnesses e.g. Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Motor Neuron Disease, etc. Our service includes symptom and pain management, as well as practical tips, guidance and advise to help people cope.
