Help Xolani Get To Washington

Personal message

Greetings and Congratulations to Xolani Mzileni !!!

Meet Xolani Mzileni, also known as (X man) he is 25 years old, born and raised in Johannesburg. Xolani is currently a student at the University of Johannesburg studying Masters in Operations Management.

He has been accepted to participate as a delegate and as the First South African Ambassador at the International Young Leaders Assembly (IYLA) " Moral and Innovative Leadership for Sustainable Peace and Development: Vision, Service, and Entrepreneurship" which will be held in Washington D.C, Philadelphia, and New York from 3-10th August 2019.

The International Young Leaders Assembly (IYLA) is a premier partnership-driven leadership development initiative that empowers promising young leaders to positively impact their communities and society at large. The synergistic interactive program brings together student leaders and young professionals with globally significant leaders and institutions.

Xolani wrote to back a buddy asking us to help him achieve his dream to be a South African representative in the United States of America as a young leader who has the passion to make a positive impact in South Africa and the world at large.

Despite that X-man was raised in a very poor background in the township with the crime, poor health centers, gangs, poor education facilities and the fact that he failed grade 11 with four levels 1's, two levels 2's and one level 3, he managed to get to university.

"There was a time when I was doing my second year where I did not have any funding. I decided to sleep in the lecture halls for more than 3 months with no food and enough money to survive. I used to bath on the basins in the toilets with cold water using tissue/ toilet paper", he said.

Xolani completed his diploma in Management Services with 83% overall average, he also completed his Honors (B-Tech) degree in Quality with Distinction. He obtained 27 Distinctions, this has led him to be recognized by the University of Johannesburg and also got him the following awards for his outstanding academic excellence:

(a) First-year top achiever

(b) Ujenius member ( UJ top 1% academic excelling students)

(c) Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment Deans List-top achiever

(d) Golden Key International Honour Society -UJ Chapter (top 15% in UJ)

(e) Best first year's Tutor for 2018 to list few.

This year he was selected for the opportunity where he got to study abroad as an exchange student in the USA, Appalachian State University. He studied and successfully completed his MBA in Supply Chain Management exchange program for 5 months (Jan-May 2019). This is when he got to hear about IYLA, he applied and became the first South Africa to be accepted to IYLA.

With this information since he returned to RSA, he has been sharing it with other young leaders so that they can also get the chance to go abroad and represent South Africa and the continent at large. Xolani Mzileni also said, "I am also pleased to mention that one of those young leaders who applied is Xolani Sifundza and he also got accepted to be a South African delegate and an ambassador at  IYLA and we are both. We are both fundraising to attend the conference together."

Xolani Mzileni is involved in various initiatives that focus on leadership and youth development in his community . in 2014 he started a teaching program with two students and grew to over 250+ matric student. He co-founded QOMS Forum at UJ with other young brilliant leaders which serve various student needs and sharing opportunities to the society.

He also got the opportunity to serve as the Campus and Community Outreach Director for Golden Key UJ Chapter 2019, Xolani is also a young speaker who has been invited to speak at the University of Pittsburgh, Mpumalanga through Ark of Nations (AON) ,& UJ FM to share his inspirational story and growing up in South Africa.

For him to secure his seat with other global leaders in this conference he must pay the tuition fee in July. let us help him by donating whatever amount we can offer. The tuition fee equals to R45 000.00 ($3 000.00).

The tuition fee covers the following expenses:

(a) Processing fee,

(b) Entrance to all venues,

(c) Hotel accommodation,

(d) Domestic transportation (To Washington, Philadelphia and New York),

(e) Activities and events, all meals, program materials, and certificate.

NB: The tuition fee DOES NOT cover international flights to and from the USA.

This opportunity will help him grow as a young leader and work on developing his entrepreneurship skills which he plans to share and implement to address the problems we have in South Africa such as poor infrastructure, health, education, unemployment, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, HIV and Aids, gender inequality and  many more issues as addressed by the UN SDG's.

The donations made will be directly allocated to IYLA. Let us help Xolani by making the donations and sharing this article in social media platforms to make this young man's dream a reality.

THANK YOU!!!
