As some of you may know, I decided to embark on a healthy lifestyle in the beginning of 2018 - one only gets on life, so it needs to be a good one right! This year February marks the one year anniversary of exercising, eating well and living to my full potential and to mark this I have decided to run the Two Oceans Half Marathon.
But then it got me thinking, why not attach a worthy and incredible cause to it and really make it count. Having a long standing relationship with the community in Gugulethu, I have decided to run for a prohect that would see Innovation Hubs being built in this and many other communities.
This has been a concept that has been coming for the past year and it was great hearing our president, Cyril Ramaphosa also note it in his SONA 2019 address (it seems like the word is spreading...)
This Innovation Hub will offer a premium experience to combat youth unemployment and to strengthen families. It will be a mixed-use space that not only creates an attractive urban environment in the community, but also houses a range of programs in which people can be equipped to connect to the local and global economy.
I am personally invested in this and as a company, Hendre Bloem Design, I have pledged financially and skill-wise towards seeing this hub become a reality and ultimately changing the lives and course of someone else’s life.
The dream is to build Innovation Hubs in communities across South Africa and I could not be more excited to see this vision come to pass.

Hillsong Africa Foundation
The Hillsong Africa Foundation (HAF) has been active in building lives in communities in
South Africa since 2010. Our vision is simple and clear: “Building lives that will build the Nation".
Through the involvement of many volunteers HAF is currently actively impacting the lives of more than
1,800 people every week through over 40 projects in 9 different communities in South Africa.
We are racing towards deepening the impact in our target communities by introducing brand new Innovation Hubs where young people will be able to learn, grow and be inspired to be the best they can be!
