Herman Wessels or as some would know him "Foghorn" is putting on his running shoes and tackling the UTCT 28 & 29 November 2020. An epic 65Km over Table mountain and the Cape Town peninsula. Herman is looking at finishing the 65km before the cut off time rather than trying to win the race (Industry junk food does not help).
Here is a description of the race of the UTCT on their website:
The City is shaped by two oceans and Table Mountain National Park, a dramatic mountain chain that stretches from Table Bay in the north to Cape Point in the south.
The races traverse sections of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill, Orangekloof, Llandudno, Hout Bay, the Constantia Winelands, upper slopes of Kirstenbosch Nature Reserve and Devil's Peak, which form part of the iconic natural world heritage site and one of the new Natural Seven Wonders of the World.
All four races consist of technical terrain with steep ascents and descents. Weather can vary drastically with near sub-zero temperatures in the early morning on top of Table Mountain to 30 degrees plus during the latter part of the day.
Participants are reminded that the UTCT races are genuine mountain excursions, necessary care and respect must be taken when running within Table Mountain National Park and surrounds.
Herman challenges you to become part of this epic journey and either help by donating towards SOS or pledging a set amount per KM that he finishes. Herman will be running in MGG gear (Not safety boots) and hope to get the entire entertainment industry to help with this amazing charity to help guys and girls in our industry.
