Mkhancqwa community in Brakpan, Gauteng have about 50 young girls aged 10 - 18 years, who already started to menstruate. These girls are not privileged and cannot afford to buy a pack of sanitary towels during their menstruation cycle and as a results they use unhygienic substances like: socks, cloths, newspapers, etc.
My friends and I decided to launch the sanitary towels campaign in 2016 in order to collect the sanitary towels on behalf of the girls and distribute to them. We also managed to raise funds towards the sanitary towels campaign during the Mandela drive, however there is now a lack of participation as a results we are unable to constantly buy and give each girl the sanitary towels.
I, therefore, would like to make a kind request to men and women to partner with me in the notion to raise funds towards this noble cause.
I am now going to climb Kilimanjaro in support for sanitary towels campaign for girls and one of the things that encourage me to embark on this journey, is the opportunity to serve others. In this journey, I will be raising awareness about how important it is for our girls to have access to the sanitary towels during their menstrual cycle.
Hopefully, I will be able to touch many other women and men in different organizations/businesses to take part in this campaign.
Money raised will strictly be used to buy the sanitary towels for the girls and distributed to them on a monthly basis to ensure they can freely enjoy their womanhood with dignity. I am pleased that I personally decided to take on the Kilimanjaro expedition, in support for the sanitary towels campaign for girls. This great challenge will be at my own cost and I have already paid for my travelling, climbing and accommodation costs.
