My name is Garth and on the 4 January 2020, I will be turning 31. This year instead of getting gifts and spoiling myself I want to raise funds for our Children's home called Huis Thembiso. It is situated in Kraaifontein, Cape Town. I am currently the Chairperson of the board.
This children's home takes care of 10 babies every day between the ages of 0-24 months. There is always a need for funds but due to less and fewer individuals and companies being able to support this home they have a need for extra funds. The babies are always in need of formula milk, nappies, clothing, doctors, and believe it or not electricity. There are caregivers who take care of these babies every day.
But due to all of this children's home has fallen behind on its budget and I would like to use my birthday as a way to raise funds for the children home!
The impact that this campaign will have is firstly to create awareness for the children's home, secondly, it will make it possible that they will be able to keep doing what they do on a daily bases and begin to make a dent in the budget they have fallen behind on.
Funds will be used to purchase milk, clothing, electricity and pay some medical bills for some of the babies that needed some medical attention.
*Funds raised will be transferred directly to House of Thembiso.*

House of Thembiso
According to the National Adoption Coalition of South Africa (Nacsa) a review of reported abandonment indicates 65% of abandoned children are newborns and 90% are younger than a year. Around 3,500 children are abandoned in South Africa every year. House of Thembiso exists as a project to prevent the death of abandoned infants by giving them the love and care they need to survive until they can legally be placed with a loving family.
House of Thembiso is a Project of the Executive Welfare Council of the A.F.M of S.A. (uMephi) and is registered with the Department of Social Development as a Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC) to take care of up to 10 abandoned infants at a time.
There is a great need for places that can care for abandoned and orphaned babies, as the number of infants that become orphaned or that are abandoned is growing. According to stats, the number of orphaned children in South Africa has grown by 50% over a period of 10 years.
At House of Thembiso, we give these babies the love, care and attention they need, not just to survive, but to flourish as Thembiso in Xhosa means promise.
Everyone at House of Thembiso would like to appeal to you, to consider House of Thembiso as a project that you can invest in as the little ones rely on us in their hour of need.
Thank you for your kind consideration.
