IFAASA's Medical Aid Legal Battle Fundraiser - Let's make history!!

Personal message

IFAASA has been battling with open medical aids in South Africa for 7 years for fair treatment of a Prescribed Minimum Benefit Disease (PMB). It is currently the only PMB (out of 270) on the exclusion list of most medical aids. We are tired of the disease being discriminated against and so, we have put together a top legal team who feel we have a very strong case to get the exclusion overturned, which means that all medical aids would need to cover treatment of some kind (the specifics would need to be determined) for infertility.

Legal battles cost money though and, as a non-profit company, reliant upon sponsorship, we just don't have those kind of funds available. The win is not guaranteed either but, we have to try for the 1 in 6 couples going through infertility right now.

If we don't reach our target, you will be refunded your money, subject to backabuddy's t's & c's. If we do reach our target, the money will be used for all fees relating to the case ie: legal and administrative costs.

Infertility has been categorized by the World Health Organization as a Disease of the Reproductive System and therefore deserves treatment to be covered by our medical schemes in South Africa.

Infertility Awareness Association of South Africa

Infertility Awareness Association of South Africa Logo

IFAASA, the Infertility Awareness Association of South Africa NPC, established in 2013, is a non-profit organisation with the aim of supporting Southern Africans living with reproductive health issues through education, research and advocacy, and to educate the public about the reproductive disease.

Southern Africa has never had an infertility awareness association. Statistics show that one in six couples suffer from some form of infertility. Yet the general public, numerous medical practitioners, and many infertiles themselves are unacquainted with and ignorant of the journey infertiles follow in their quest to achieve their families. Our vision is to be the leading Southern African infertility awareness association while also driving public and industry awareness and understanding of infertility. We will act on behalf of the infertility community as advocates by lobbying for fair support and change and equal access to public and private sector treatment.

IFAASA will not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, creed, colour, national origin, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other classification protected by law.
