Kilimanjaro Summit for Caring4Girls Fundraiser

Personal message

Ilze Bothma,  i am 39 years old and live in Gordon's Bay.

I’m raising funds for The Imbumba Foundation, who do great work for a cause that is very close to my heart as I am also a Mother of an 11 year old girl. Caring4Girls is a sanitary towels distribution program which strives to help keep adolescent girls in school during their monthly cycles.

Trek4Mandela brings together inspired individuals from corporate and public backgrounds to assist in raising funds and creating awareness for the Caring4Girls programme. Research has revealed that girls from poor backgrounds could miss up to 50 days of school each year due to menstrual related challenges. According to UNICEF girls’ education and empowerment literally saves millions of lives. More educated women tend to be healthier, work and earn more income, have fewer children, and provide better health care and education to their children.

Each participant's goal is to raise one hundred thousand rand (R100 000.00).  Through the 2020 Expedition we hope to reach 1,000,000 girl learners through the Caring4Girls program: (100,000 girl learners from each of the 9 South African provinces, 50,000 girl learners from Tanzania and a further 50,000 from Swaziland, Mozambique, Namibia, Lesotho and Botswana). This will be a first of its kind expedition and eligible for entry in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Funds raised will be paid into the beneficiary's bank account.
