EPIC CHALLENGE – WE WERE THERE!
We empower blind people by means of Education, Training, Development and Care.
Innovation for the Blind (previously Institute for the Blind) offers Residential Care, Supported Living, Vocational and Skills Training to more than 400 persons who are visually impaired (blind, partially sighted, deaf-blind and visually impaired with additional disabilities.
Innovation for the Blind CEO, Albie Heigers, didn’t just talk but saddled up to successfully complete the 658km of hills and mountains of the 2018 Absa Cape Epic, to eventually raise an amount of R43,915 in aid of the visually impaired persons with additional disabilities in our care!
And now you can help! We aren’t asking you to ride the Cape Epic. We are giving you the opportunity to make a difference.
In an attempt to raise additional funds towards the upgrading of our Recreation and Therapy areas at Ebenhaezer Home for Multi-disabled visually impaired persons, we offer you Albie’s cycling jersey … and of course it has since been rinsed in a scented detergent! What makes this jersey even more unique is that it is the first time in our 137 years of existence that our CEO has accepted a challenge of this nature and the first time that our logo was displayed in public!
This framed jersey is a symbol of inspiration and will meet visitors and residents in the foyer of Ebenhaezer Home. The name of friends donating more than R5,000 will be engraved on a bronze plaque, to be secured on the frame!
Albie approached the Cape Epic fearlessly to make a difference in the life of visually impaired persons with additional disabilities … are you this brave?
You do not have to ride the Cape Epic. We challenge you to make a difference. Help us match Albie’s efforts. Together we will raise R80,000
Giving is not just about making a donation … it’s about making a difference” *Kathy Calvin
