Connecting and relay of reliable information

We are working on setting up communication networks across Cape Town so that we can enable people to remain connected to each other and the world, and to enable a channel for the relay of reliable information both in and out of these communities.

Strong need for internet

We believe that access to the internet should be a right for all, especially in times of crisis that require physical distancing. Social media platforms like WhatsApp have become the most important channels of communication, and are vital to a communities ability to respond effectively.

Routers to provide long-term connections

We are looking for resources to distribute routers to focal points within our networks. We have identified homes that could become wifi-hotspots for individuals living closeby. As many can't afford monthly internet packages, they rely on short-term data bundles which are exorbitantly expensive. Our main objective is to support individuals in creating sustainable structures for long-term connections with the online world. Over 2 years, we will guide the identified wifi-homes in setting up ways to pay their data monthly.
