Irshaad Abrahams - Travelstart & Freedom Trust (Running for Kids’ Mobility)

Personal message

Hi My name is Irshaad Abrahams and along with my fellow colleagues from Travelstart, I will be running the 10km leg of the Cape Town Marathon on 15 September 2019 to raise money for the Freedom Trust, an organisation that's close to my heart. What makes this event special is that we will be running with a differently-abled child in a specially designed push buggy so that they get to cross the 10km finish line too.

The Freedom Trust builds custom-made and affordable walking devices for

differently-abled children to enable them to freely explore their world. Together, our desire is to deliver mobility to children in Africa and beyond.

I would like to raise R2,000 to help build such a device (Freedom walker) for children who desperately need them and whose families do not have the means to purchase them. One walker costs R4,500 and if my colleagues and I manage to reach our individual goals, we will raise enough funds for the Freedom Trust to build at least 10 new walkers.

All funds raised will go directly to the Freedom Trust. Your donation, of any kind, will make a difference and be hugely appreciated by me and a child whose life you will be impacting.

We want all physically challenged kids to have access to affordable mobility devices to give them freedom to explore their world and to provide more dignity in their situation. The Freedom Trust will help fund devices for those who cannot afford them, whilst also providing support to severely physically or mentally challenged people and their families.
