Personal message

Hello! We are Leigh Corbett and Lee Bailey.  Our friend Jade Ashford runs a puppy and dog rescue NPC from her home in Westville, Durban called Paw Prints Rescue and Rehoming (NPC 2018/554039/08). Jade has had some bad luck recently and needs help! Read on to find out why, but first some background on Jade's rescue work.

Jade and I (Leigh) met three years ago when we were jointly involved in a fundraising project called Ruff Night. We spent the night in a kennel to raise funds for homeless and rescue dogs.  Jade and Lee have been friends for many years through the dog rescue community.

Over the past 5 years, Jade has taken in, fostered and rehomed around 650 puppies and has rehomed more than 50 unwanted older dogs due to immigration, divorce and downsizing. She also helps homeless animals living on the streets. Jade's service to the greater Durban community is nothing short of amazing. She vaccinates, deworms, treats for ticks and fleas, and feeds and cares for the dogs that come to her. Her vet bills are high and she has to rely on donations and fundraising to keep the accounts paid.   Jade has a kind, caring and passionate heart and she will do what she needs to save a dog in distress!

On the 5th of November 2019, Jade was involved in a horrific car accident. She was rear-ended by an out-of-control vehicle on the M19.  Her car spun, flipped 360 degrees, was struck by two more cars and then burst into flames (all with Jade still trapped inside).  Jade was rescued by bystanders and miraculously she survived.  She suffered a few broken bones, 2nd and 3rd-degree burns, concussion and whiplash.  She was lucky to make it out of the burning vehicle. Her car was not so lucky as it was destroyed.

Jade recently received the devastating news that her car was underinsured and that she will therefore not be receiving a payout from the insurance company. She was relying on that payout as a deposit on a replacement vehicle.

AID 4 JADE aims to help her find the funds for a deposit on a car.
For Jade, her car is integral to the good work she carries out every day.  Being a single mom with one income and running a rescue organisation in addition to a full-time job, Jade does not have any savings.  All spare funds go towards helping and rescuing dogs!  She requires a reliable, safe and suitable car.

The funds raised during this campaign will be used for a deposit on replacement car for Jade so she can continue her work with Paw Prints Rescue and Rehoming.

Funds raised will be paid directly into the relevant beneficiary.
