My name is Jacquelene Soldaat I'm 36 years of age. I live in Eersterivier with my husband and 12-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.
The fundraiser is for my 13-year-old son Jeyhlin Jaftha who's invited to attend the SAJCC chess tournament that's going to take place in January 2020. This is my son's dream because he loves playing chess. Chess his passion and it is his dream to become a grandmaster one day. I decided to do this fundraiser because we will not be able to pay this out of our pocket because my daughter was born with a congenital heart defect 3 years ago so we've been dealing with a lot of medical bills the past 3 years. We are so grateful for this opportunity that is given to our son it would break our hearts if he can’t attend because of our financial situation.
My son has been selected to represent Chess Western Province in the U/14 team at the South African Junior Chess Championship tournament (January 2020).
He loves chess and wants to become a grandmaster one day. He's been playing since the age of 8. He is a good chess player and just needs more opportunities like this.
Breakdown of costs:
* Accommodation incl. Meals
* Training sessions
* Spending money
We are so grateful for this opportunity that is given to our son it would break our hearts if he can't attend because of our financial situation.
We need to reach the target by October 2019 (5months).
This opportunity will mean the world to my son and us as well. This will open up a new world for him to still dream and believe that dreams do come true. Sometimes our children lose hope and stop dreaming because of money.
*BackaBuddy will pay funds raised directly to Jeyhlin's chess coach who is managing the tour*
