Johannes Wessels se S4J Uitdaging vir 2019

Personal message

I am a Christian who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2008.  Despite having a dreaded disease, I would like to use the Comrades Marathon to raise funds for the building of schools for my Christian Family in the Nuba Mountains.

Education in the Nuba Mountains

The People in the Nuba-mountains in Sudan has been affected by civil war for literally decades. The intensity of the war varies continuously, although it is a fact that infrastructure development was hampered due to the never-ending conflict.  Education is one of the most affected areas.  The local church has stepped in to provide the desperate needed basic education.  The situation is though so desperate that teachers are mostly Grade 8 student who teach younger grades. Classroom structures are merely nothing more than plastic covers supported by tree branches.

My excuse for not helping those in the Nuba-Mountains is Multiple Sclerosis, what is your excuse?

S4J is a fundraiser where athletes who run the Comrades marathon (and other races) raise funds to help the people of Sudan and South Sudan. We focus on providing help to war victims, as well as those in avoided and neglected communities where help is needed most.
