Personal message

At the beginning of this year, I decided to start running. Something I personally always wanted to get in to but never really took it seriously or made time for it. After hitting the road for the first time on the 17 February this year I was so motivated and decided to do it the next day as well. After my 3rd run I started gaining advice from people who have been longer on the journey than I was and they helped train me to run larger distances and pick up the pace a bit. 4 weeks later I have decided to do the impossible, to run the Two Oceans Half Marathon. With all the help I got from others on my journey it got me thinking, why not help others to through a worthy and incredible cause. Having a long standing relationship with the community in Gugulethu through Hillsong Church SA, I have decided to run for a prohect that would see the very first Innovation Hub being built in Gugs and many communities across South Africa.
This has been a concept that has been coming for the past year and it was great hearing our president, Cyril Ramaphosa also note it in his SONA 2019 address.
This Innovation Hub will offer a premium experience to combat youth unemployment and to strengthen families. It will be a mixed-use space that not only creates an attractive urban environment in the community, but also houses a range of programs in which people can be equipped to connect to the local and global economy.
The dream is to build Innovation Hubs in communities across South Africa and I could not be more excited to see this vision come to pass.

The Hillsong Africa Foundation (HAF) has been active in building lives in communities in
South Africa since 2010. Our vision is simple and clear: “Building lives that will build the Nation".

Through the involvement of many volunteers HAF is currently actively impacting the lives of more than
1,800 people every week through over 40 projects in 9 different communities in South Africa.

We are racing towards deepening the impact in our target communities by introducing brand new Innovation Hubs where young people will be able to learn, grow and be inspired to be the best they can be!
