Getting Karlheinz and Irene to the Dutch Open

Getting Karlheinz and Irene to the Dutch Open

Personal message

Both Karlheinz Krüger and Irene Kruger started dancing at the Beverley Hammond dance school in the east of Pretoria. Irene started in 2009 and Karlheinz also known as Heinz started there in 2010. Our principal Beverley Hammond reckoned that she saw talent in the both of us and just had this vision that we need to be paired together. All good and well, skater Heinz and tomboy Irene paired up and started doing basic routines together. After only 2 months of dancing together, Beverley said they must enter for the South African Championships.

They were stunned because they could not imagine competing... needless to say, rocking up at the comp with far too little makeup and Heinz's hair all up in his face and his pants too short... they went for it! Nervous and scared, they danced their very first competition EVER in November 2010, they still competed in the Junior section 16/under and they took the gold home that day in the beginner section known as Bronze.

Fast forward to 2018 and they once again walked onto the floor, this time with a bit more confidence, makeup, tan and hair on point, dresses, and shirts stoned, shoes scrubbed and attitude ready... this time they became the All open South African Latin champions in the Championship section.

Heinz and Irene now share a space on the trophy of MANY fantastic dancers who have competed nationally and internationally and have taken some big titles!

Now they are raising funds to get to the Dutch Open. The fundraising money will go towards booking accommodation and flights as well as entry to the competition, visas, and lessons with their trainer Hayley Lamont.

Heinz and Irene are more than willing to work for it! They are available for shows and demonstrations as well as some teaching opportunities.

Breakdown of costs:
Entry to the competiti R 000.00 per person
Flights = +/- R8000.00 per person
Accommodati R9000.00 per person
Visa's = +/- R2500.00 per person
Training = +/- R2500.00 per person

Heinz and Irene have waited 9 years to become the South African Latin champions. They have trained 9 years to be able to now be ready to take on the international floor. This is the next step in their amateur dancing career. This does not only allow them to reach one of their goals, but it will also enable them to fill a life long dream.

DansInternationaal is the official organization that runs the Dutch Championship event.

Funds raised will go into a bank account that Irene and Karlheinz have set up to raise funds for attending the event.
