My name is Odette Kleyn, I live in Pretoria. My son Kelsey Ross. My son and I have been on a 16-year journey and have been fighting the battle of Eczema. He is 21 and been suffering since the age of 5. For years we have been in and out of doctors, specialist rooms and hospitals, trying to find ways to heal this skin disorder which consumes his life daily. It was only until recently when he had a major flare up and became immune to the cortisone due to an overdose, did we realise the extent of the damage been done to his body, both inside and out. Our only way was to go the natural route, and this needed to be done as from immediate effect. I was so ignorant about eczema and what to do at this point.
The only solution I had was taking him to the hospital but knew that this was not a long term solution. They would only be treating the symptoms and not the cause. He was bedridden for a month and needed to be taken care of 24/7 at this time, which was a stressful and an emotional journey. This was the only way we could go as to prevent further long term damage.
For those that are not aware about eczema, its a skin disorder that flairs up at any time...due to foods consumed, pollution, dust mites, pollen, etc.
My son has severe eczema and unable to work at this stage. We are focusing on healing him the healthy way, the future goal is to raise awareness of eczema. He would like to study natural medicine to help others who are suffering from this disease.
We do not have a specific time frame, but we do need support financially as his disorder has left us in a financial predicament.
Funds raised will be used to cover:
Garden patch. Food from the shops tend to cause a reaction. We have found eating fresh veg and herbs from the garden help a lot with his condition. The organic veg will also be sold at a local market to earn an income.
Natural meds and special foods, gluten, dairy and sugar-free, which are expensive and a scarce commodity.
Raising awareness of eczema. All over the world people are suffering and no cure or long term treatment.
Time to study natural medicine theory and practical.
Our goal would be to heal and help others who suffer from eczema.
He doesn't live a normal life at the moment. He cants go out with friends as people stare and he has no self-confidence. He could be fine today and tomorrow he has a flare-up. This depends on the climate, what he eats and stress. This is very difficult to control and we can't say when it will go away and if ever. If people can assist financially, this would relieve us of a lot of stress and will enable us to be self-sufficient in the future.
