Kimberley Feeding Scheme

Kimberley Feeding Scheme

Personal message

My name is Michelle Perkins. I have partnered up with my mother, who has been working with street kids for over 10 years, to feed the people of the street of Kimberley, Northern Cape during the lockdown period.

Our aim is to raise enough money to be able to feed the people of the streets every day if enough money is donated to us for food, electricity and petrol. No one really knows how long this lockdown will go for and while everyone is uncertain, there are people on the streets dying of hunger because there is no one for them to turn to.

Reaching my target will mean that we are able to feed the street kids with a wholesome meal every day for the next 2-3 weeks.

The funds will be used to buy all the necessary groceries to prepare meals for them. The funds will also be used to cover petrol and electricity costs. We will also need to buy protective gear to protect ourselves and any other people who will be assisting with the handouts. At the moment we have used money out of our own pockets and any resources we have had available to us.

*The majority of the funds raised will be converted into Shoprite vouchers.  Upon presentation of receipts, the remainder of the funds will be transferred to Michelle to cover the petrol costs of distributing the vouchers.*
