LFC Fundraising Tough Times

Personal message

Founder and member, the late Ebba Booth (1959), wrote - 61 years ago, a group of parents of mentally handicapped children got together with the intention to start a facility for their children.  Their strong conviction was that their children were capable of learning simple life skills and should be encouraged to lead as normal a life as possible and not end up in big Government institutions.  Another driving force was the parents' deep concern for the future, should they no longer be in a position to take care of their children.  It is with that thought in mind that we strive to uphold Ebba's vision so that each of our orphans and residents may have a home as some of them have been at Lake Farm Centre for many years and Lake Farm Centre is the only home they know.

We need your support to ensure that Ebba Booth's vision for Lake Farm Centre stays alive and progresses.  To be able to ensure that a broad spectrum of needs are fulfilled as follows:
Funding for Orphans
Maintenance of Buildings
Entertainment for Residents (In-house and Outings)
Upgrading of Care Unit
Upgrade of Grounds, e.g. Grandstand on field
On-going Staff Training with regard to, e.g. Psychological needs and general well-being of residents
RTR (Reach Teach Read) Literacy and Art Workshop for residents (Phono-Graphix Method - a continuation of lessons)
Upgrading of Farming, Handwork, Leatherwork, Pottery,  Spinning and Weaving and Woodwork Workshops and teaching of new skills to the residents.

Lake Farm Centre Adult Care

Lake Farm Centre Adult Care Logo

The Lake Farm Centre is a registered home to 90 intellectually challenged adult residents, some of whom are physically challenged.  The residents reside in seven hostel units and contribute to the upkeep and running of the Centre.  Residents range in age from 20 to 77 with some requiring assisted living.  The Centre offers several workshops such as arts, crafts, bakery, gardens, literacy classes, etc. as well as various work groups in a vegetable and farming environment.  Almost one-third of the residents are orphans and they are socially and financially dependent on support and fundraising.

Any financial donation in support of the Lake Farm Centre will be gratefully appreciated and benefactors will be issued with a Section 18A Certificate for funds received which is tax deductible in accordance with current Tax Legislation for donations to registered Non-Profit Organizations such as the Lake Farm Centre.
