My name is Iona Nyandoro from Cape Town. I am an environmentalist, social entrepreneur and founder of a small startup LifexSoles.
I came to know about Precious Tree Project when I was looking for an organization to volunteer my time and also gain knowledge about the environment.
In partnership with Precious Tree Project we developed a fundraiser Life, Soles and Precious Trees with a mission to feed, shoe and plant.
Life, Soles and Precious Trees is raising funds to help us with planting food trees such as apple, banana, nut trees etc. Food trees planted will create a practical and sustainable approach for a community as an ongoing food supply for the length of time trees produce fruits.
Our short term goal is provide disadvantaged school kids with new pairs of sneakers. A pair of new shoes is very meaningful to a child who is often a recipient of used shoes. Our hope is to help many bright and eager children from being kept from their best chance at changing their situations through lack of shoes.
Our long term goal is to create additional support by sending children to school and not only meet their material needs.
We took the pledge to address climate change and set ourselves and ambitious goal of planting a million trees. The strategy of the reforestation program involves planting indigenous forest trees in the Garden Route.
Funds raised will help:
Plant at least 200 food trees.
Plant at least 500 indigenous forest trees.
Help with all the operations.
Provide at least 134 pairs of sneakers and other essentials eg socks to be handed out to the children.
*Funds raised will be transferred directly to Precious Tree Project (PTP).*
