We are Leonore and Pieter (mom and dad to Logan)and we live in the Western Cape,Moorreesburg
The beneficiary is our son Logan, he is special needs (has brain damage) and we would love to get him a BackaBuddy account for some financial help. We got in contact with the *Brain Child Fund and *Family Hope Center that has a conference once a year to train parents to help their special needs child. The conference will be February 2020 in Pretoria, and we want to go to get the training to help Logan get a better quality of life.
Funds raised will be used as follows:
Booking our spot at the conference +- R34 000 its $1200 per person attending (fluctuating dollar rand exchange)
Flight tickets (return) from Cpt to Jhb and back +- R20 000
Four day stay at a B&B or Hotel +- R15 000 - R20 000
Renting a car for the 4 days +-R500 - R1000
Food for the 4 days R1000 (+- R100 p/p per day)
Our son's diapers is a monthly expense of R2000 a month
Taking him to an O.T once a week R500 (month R2500 -R3000)
Medical expenses (medication and seeing the G.P) +- R1000 per month
Firstly we would take some of the donations given to go to the PTC conference in February 2020 that #Brainchildfund and #Familyhopecenter has for parents of special needs children. There my husband and I will get the tools to help Logan heal and make a difference in his life. I believe that when we get Logan started that he will become more active with playing and interact with his younger siblings, they too would love to talk and play with him. Because Logan does not speak they don't understand what he wants of them and I can see that they truly want to play with him but the communication barrier is there. We as parents want to break that barrier and free our loving child from a silent world he lives in EVERY SINGLE DAY for almost 8 years now.
Because Logan does not speak he can not tell me he needs to use the loo, so he wears diapers, that is a very expensive cost and we need the funding for his diapers as well. We did get diapers from our state clinic, but because it's just a certain brand Logan got diaper rash and it started bleeding and my son was in a lot of pain and discomfort. So we had to buy the diapers he can wear again.
Our son will get help we have never thought possible, the training helps parents to heal the child's brain and body parts, we have never heard our son speak in the almost 8 years he was given to us (as a blessing from God) and we know and trust that this will open doors and he will then be (hopefully) able to tend a special needs school and have a somewhat "normal" childhood. And just thinking about hearing him say I love you mom and dad or thank you, will mean the world to us.
